  • About The Role

  • We are looking to recruit a talented, committed and inspiring teacher and leader to the role of Assistant Principal - Sixth Form. Isaac Newton Academy Sixth Form opened to its first cohort of pupils in 2017. Our vision is for the Sixth Form to serve as the pinnacle of education for students in Key Stage 4. The Sixth Form has built a solid foundation since it opened but we are looking for someone to raise standards further to ensure our post-16 provision is truly exceptional. We are committed to ensuring every child is challenged to achieve their maximum potential and have already celebrated wonderful successes in seeing our pupils progress to study at the most competitive universities, and onto the most competitive degree level apprenticeships.  If you are a middle leader looking to make your mark this is the perfect opportunity for you.

Working with a dedicated and motivated Senior Leadership Team, and with the direct support of the Senior Vice Principal and Principal, the Assistant Principal - Sixth Form will be responsible for the strategic planning of post-16 provision and will provide effective and inspiring leadership for staff and students in the Sixth Form. The post holder will drive forward improvements in teaching and learning, outcomes and the continuous development of our Key Stage 5 provision, whilst promoting the Sixth Form as a truly holistic educational experience and holding overall responsibility for the maintenance of high academic standards. As part of the Senior Leadership Team you will work together with your colleagues to ensure that the Sixth Form is a fully embedded part of our dynamic all through school, and that our post-16 students serve as the best role models and inspiration for our younger pupils.

We are highly ambitious for our students and our staff are pivotal to our success. As part of the team, you will have the opportunity to work with great colleagues and develop your career through an outstanding professional development programme. You will be encouraged to be a reflective and open practitioner and be supported by the expertise of the Principal and Vice Principal to develop your leadership.

As a member of staff at Isaac Newton Academy, you will be part of Ark, an international charity and one of the UK's most successful multi-academy trusts, with a network of 39 schools in 4 locations across the country. Through Ark, you will have the opportunity to work with colleagues, including other Heads of Sixth Form, across the network to develop excellent practice as well as benefitting from extensive development opportunities. We offer attractive remuneration, above the national pay scales as well as a range of benefits including reduced gym membership and large retail discounts.

    The successful candidate will:

    • be an outstanding teacher with a proven track record of securing excellent outcomes
    • have up-to-date knowledge of subject curricula and assessment requirements
    • have experience of successful leadership at a middle or senior level
    • have experience of working in post-16 provision, preferably in a position of leadership
    • have experience of working in partnership with other staff in a school setting to ensure the that the safety and wellbeing of students are prioritised at all times
