History Teacher

As an History Teacher at Ark Globe Academy, you will lead, develop, and manage the effective delivery of an outstanding lessons, which enables the highest level of student progress and attainment. You will promote outstanding teaching and learning and a strong school culture within a nurturing and rigorous environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and teach well-structured, differentiated History lessons that are aligned to the agreed curriculum and cultivate every student’s curiosity, critical thinking and enthusiasm for the subject.
• Set high expectations so that all students are inspired, motivated and challenged to reach their full potential, and in doing so meet their progress and attainment targets.
• Demonstrate secure subject knowledge and a strong understanding of History, including chronology, historical interpretation, evidence, causation, change and continuity, significance and historical perspectives.
• Use well-selected and safe practical, enquiry-based and source-based activities to help students develop their historical knowledge, understanding and disciplinary skills.
• Use data to inform teaching and learning, identify areas for intervention and provide feedback to students, staff and families in order to promote progress and outcomes
• Manage behaviour effectively to create a safe, respectful and nurturing environment so that students can focus on learning
• Work collaboratively with both school and network colleagues as committed team member, building successful, high performing teams
• Participate actively throughout the network, by attending relevant meetings, and, as appropriate, delivering network-wide training and initiatives
• Work with colleagues, students and families to develop a strong school community

• Support the Executive Principal and other strategic leaders in fostering a strong sense of Academy community and ethos, aligned to the Academy value, among both staff and students.
• Support the academy’s vision by contributing to the development and implementation of policies practices and procedures
• Help create a strong academy community, characterised by consistent, orderly behaviour and caring, respectful relationships.
• Support and work in collaboration with colleagues and other professionals in and beyond the school, covering lessons and providing other support as required.
• Vision aligned with Ark’s high aspirations and high expectations of self and others.

• Participate in and/or create extra-curricular art activities and trips.
• Contribute to the Humanities faculty.

• Undertake, and when required, deliver or be part of the appraisal system and relevant training and professional development.
• To undertake any other responsibilities as directed by the Executive Principal and ALT members

• Offer enrichment opportunities that stretch and challenge
• Work closely with the SEN department so that low attaining students are supported in making rapid and sustained progress

Role review
